This notice explains how HotKey, including the Chrome extension and MacOS app, collects and uses your data.

What We Collect

HotKey analyzes your typing patterns to provide insights into your productivity. To achieve this, the Chrome extension records your keystrokes, excluding those in password fields. For each keystroke, we collect:

• Timestamp
• User agent (browser)
• General website address (without personally identifiable information)
• Optional key tags (spaces, returns, backspaces) - used to calculate words, lines, and errors typed (optional feature)

How We Use Your Data

Currently, your data is used to create dashboards that show:

• Typing speed by website and time of day/week
• Basic productivity metrics like total typing time and keystrokes
• Relative error rate (errors per keystrokes) - to gauge user focus (optional feature)

Future Uses of Anonymized Data

We may analyze anonymized data (without personally identifiable information) to improve the app and develop new productivity features. This analysis will be solely for the purpose of improving HotKey and will not be used for advertising or other commercial purposes.

Where We Store Your Data

Your data is currently stored on secure servers managed by HotKey. We plan to offer the ability to delete your data in future versions of the extension.

Data Sharing

We do not share your data with any third-party companies.

Your Control

You can disable the recording of keystrokes entirely within the Chrome extension settings. Disabling the extension will stop all data collection. We are working on adding features to disable data collection on specific websites and manage data deletion within the app (available in future versions).
